Lately North has begun standing, climbing stairs, and all kinds of things that, to his parents at least, are signs of maturing. This picture shows he's still a baby.

This is one of the places I take North to several times a day, and lately we are letting him play on the concrete, dirt and leaves along the Burke-Gilman trail which runs along the ship canal. This "Rock Valley" is a plaza of steps leading down to the water, next to the Google Research and Development labs.

Halloween 2008

Our neighborhood has a Halloween event in which most all area businesses give out treats between 3:00 and 6:00. The sidewalks were full of toddlers and their parents. We had a great time. This was all right outside our door, with our first stop at Jive Time Records being in our same building. I included the map of our route at the bottom of this blog post.

North taming the Robot

We have an iRobot vacuuming robot ( same company makes the robots used in Iraq to dismantle bombs ). North likes to mess with it a lot-crawling on top of it, patting it. This is while it is off. The robot is made to be baby and pet safe. So I knew the day would come when North turned it on. He did today. I saw the thing cornered by North, and it was just working itself back and forth, bouncing off North and the wall. North was just watching. As I came to the rescue, North began to cry. I turned it off and held North till he stopped crying. To my surprise North is back messing with the Robot. He bought his blanket with him this time, and is capturing the robot with the aid of the blanket.
